Hennessey reveals buff SUPER VENOM Mustang to celebrate its anniversary

What better way is there to celebrate your company’s anniversary than by creating a purebred, pavement-punishing pony? Automotive manufacturer and tuner Hennessey feels the same way, which is why it is celebrating its 34th anniversary with a 91-unit run of the new SUPER VENOM Mustang.

Hennessey seriously beefed up the stock Mustang’s powertrain

Building on either the current Mustang GT or Dark Horse, the SUPER VENOM enhances the factory 5.0L V8 engine, boosting its original 500 hp to an impressive 850 hp and increasing torque by 55 percent, reaching a maximum of 650 lb-ft. The performance enhancements needed to achieve those numbers include a high-flow air induction system, high-performance supercharger, upgraded fuel injectors and fuel pump, as well as Hennessey’s engine management system.

The engine can be paired with either a 10-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual.

0-60 mph times drop from 3.7 seconds in the regular Dark Horse to 3.2 seconds, with a ¼ mile time of 10.9 seconds at 133 mph.

A bespoke body kit pairs well with the SUPER VENOM’s powertrain

The SUPER VENOM wears 20-inch lightweight performance wheels and the new and bespoke “VenomAero” carbon fiber performance kit, which includes a more aggressive front splitter, a functional front hood vent, side skirts, functional front fender louvers, a rear trunk lid with an integrated duck bill, and a tall, fixed rear track wing.

Hennessey claims these aerodynamic improvements increase handling and cooling to match the ponies under the hood.

Don’t forget about the livery!

The automaker’s newest creation can be adorned with one of three bespoke “91 Icon Livery” liveries, named after the company’s founding year, in either black, silver, or red over the factory paint color. Hennessey and SUPER VENOM badging are spread throughout the body, while the rear wing has a ghosted Hennessey logo.

The cabin is dressed in bespoke Hennessey leather and Alcantara seats in either blue or black. Customers can choose between the comfort or Recaro sports seats, with either one wearing an embossed Hennessey signature logo. The center console and dash include a plaque showcasing each SUPER VENOM Mustang’s individual serial number, ensuring that passengers know they’re riding in something special.

Final thoughts

You can’t go wrong with an all-American V8 Mustang (legally) screaming its tires off. Those performance numbers are serious business, and we hope the owners take advantage of them.

Speaking of owning one of these things, not only are they limited to 91 units (because Hennessey was founded in 1991), but the automaker didn’t announce a price either. If you’re interested in having one in your stable, orders are now being taken either by Hennessey directly or by authorized Hennessey Ford dealers like Galpin Ford, Ken Grody Ford, 5-Star Ford, Riddick-Brown Ford, Kunes Ford, Veterans Ford of Tampa, and Sarchione Ford.

For reference, a Mustang GT Fastback starts at $46,560, while a Mustang Dark Horse starts at $64,380. Given the bespoke nature of the SUPER VENOM and all of the performance upgrades, we expect its MSRP to easily reach six figures. Nobody ever said that being cool was cheap.
