This sports car was Andorra's best-selling vehicle of 2024
If you’ve never heard of Andorra, or, rather, the Principality of Andorra, we can’t say we blame you. It’s the sixteenth smallest country in the world by land area and is home to just under 81,000 people. While Andorra is just 181 square miles in size, its residents still need vehicles to get around, and the best-selling model of 2024 certainly isn’t something you’d see topping the list in any other country.

The Porsche 911 was Andorra’s best-selling vehicle in 2024
If you look at the best-selling vehicles of nearly any other country, you aren’t likely to find a Porsche in the top five, let alone at the top of the list. That’s not the case in the Principality of Andorra, which bought just 2,379 new vehicles in 2024. Of those, 83 were the Porsche 911, securely placing it at the top of the list.

This data comes from Felipe Munoz, an employee of the automotive research industry analysis firm JATO Dynamics, who posted the sales numbers on his Instagram page.

The Porsche 911 was followed by the Toyota GR Yaris with 47 units sold. Rounding out the top five were two more Porsche nameplates, the Cayenne, with 46 units sold, and the Macan, with 45 units sold. The Cupra Formentor, Andorra’s best-selling model of 2023, dropped to fifth place with 44 units sold.
If we’re talking about automotive brands as a whole, Mercedes-Benz led the pack with 231 vehicles sold in Andorra. Notably, the German automaker didn’t have a single vehicle break into the top 10 list. Porsche followed as a close second, with 210 models sold. Ford wrapped up the top three brands, moving 161 new vehicles to Andorra in 2024.

Andorrans benefit from a prosperous economy
That’s quite a different top-five list from anywhere else in the world, and it all comes down to Andorra’s wealth. According to the International Money Fund (IMF), the micronation has a GDP per capita totaling $68,600. For comparison, the United States GDP per capita currently sits at $82,769.

Andorra is located in the eastern Pyrenees region, with France to the north and Spain to the south. Its location puts it in a prime position for vacationers, so it’s unsurprising that it hosts more than eight million tourists every year. That tourism, combined with lax banking laws and a low tax rate, makes it one of the most prosperous nations in the world despite its small size.

While the Porsche 911 was Andorra’s best-selling vehicle, it didn’t even break into the top 25 in the United States. Americans bought over 14,000 Porsche 911s in 2024, but that pales in comparison to the Ford F-series, which saw more than 732,000 units sold.

Final thoughts
The Porsche 911 is an impressive machine, but with a starting price of $120,100, it’s out of reach for most consumers. The fact that the sports car is the top-selling model in any country is rather astounding. Not only that, but the Porsche 911 was just one of three from the automaker to break into Andorra’s top five.

Even with three models in the top five, Porsche didn’t lead Andorra in sales. That honor belongs to Mercedes-Benz, despite not having a vehicle in the top 10. Interestingly, the Tesla Model Y remained the world’s best-selling vehicle, followed by the Toyota Corolla and Toyota RAV4. America’s favorite model, the Ford F-Series, came in fourth, and the Honda CR-V closed out the world’s top five.
